TRAILER.
Sugar In An Open Wound is a short rom-com/drama about a love-jaded man who attempts to move on from his ex-girlfriend at a concert.
DIRECTOR STATEMENT.
Sugar In An Open Wound intertwines a meet cute with a fresh breakup. I wanted this film to embody the moment in time after a breakup when you transition from being apathetic towards love to when you finally open yourself up to being vulnerable again. The goal wasn’t to argue that love is perfect or that it should be put on a pedestal, but rather that even with its flaws, it’s still worth pursuing. This nonlinear narrative immediately places the audience in Jeff's apathetic state of mind and allows them to jump back and forth in time with Jeff as he overcomes the fallout of his past relationship.
This is my first short film, and I'm excited to share this universal moment after a breakup that is often forgotten too soon.
Jeff Schneider is an independent filmmaker based in Chicago, IL. He is a graduate of The Second City's improv and writing programs and has completed additional coursework at Black Box Acting Studio.
